24 – We are Universal Systems …

How can we not accept the self-evident fact that we are universal systems made of microscopic universal systems, embedded within macroscopic universal systems, and existing because there is a universal evolutionary process that tends toward complexity? And yet we can indiscriminately accept the divisiveness of religious doctrines and the destruction of political and economic ideologies. How can we?

Is it not self-evident that, like any other naturally evolving system in Nature, we consume energy sources from the environment, transform them into self-activation and self-generation, and then dissipate them back into the environment in other forms of energy? Is it not self-evident that this process is a source of transformation?

But instead of promoting these self-evident properties of our nature, most of our educational systems promote instead the divisiveness of religious doctrines and the consumerism and constant conflict of economic and political ideologies, when it is glaring that divisiveness, consumerism, and constant conflict are the main factors giving us license to throw off balance the chemical balance of the environment that gives us life. This is how badly indoctrinated we are.

In the same way human understanding was furthered once we accepted the fact that it is the earth that circles the sun, we will further our understanding once we accept the incontrovertible fact that we are, like atomic particles, and cells, and solar systems, universal systems with a relative degree of freedom to transform ourselves and our world.

Once we perceive ourselves as universal systems:

  • – We will understand the fact that our Universe is multi-dimensional (the dimensions of atomic particles, molecular compounds, cellular organisms, planetary systems, galactic systems, etc., etc.), and that we are embedded in those dimensions.
  • – We will understand the fact that perception is relative to the dimension from which it is perceived, i.e. we may be perceived as a universe from the dimension of the atomic particles, and as an atomic particle from the dimension of a solar system.

Understanding these facts will allow us to recognize the limits and possibilities of perception, and the commonalities we share with everything in Nature.

Once we perceive ourselves as universal systems, we will understand that no matter how insignificant or immense we might appear from other perspectives, the impact of our transformation is the measure of our transcendence. Galilei, Gandhi, an ancient sea creature daring into the unknown, a planet consenting to the emergence of conscious self-awareness, are salient examples of transcendence.

Once we open our intellects to new aspects of Reality; once we let our minds be led by critical thinking and common sense instead of the irrationality and the greed of others; once we can perceive ourselves as universal systems and know that we are innately endowed with a relative degree of freedom in adaptation, we will be able to accept the undeniable fact that we are, each and all of us, catalysts for transformation.

“I feel it now: there’s a power in me to grasp and give shape to my world”. Rainer Maria Rilke
